Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is on the Side of Law and Order
Who Is Alvin Bragg?
Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. is the 37th District Attorney of Manhattan and the first Black person to hold the position. He has spent over 20 years working as a prosecutor at both the state and federal levels, fighting for a safer and more just criminal justice system. Under his leadership, the Manhattan DA’s office has been restructured to prioritize the prosecution of violent crimes, protect victims and survivors, reduce recidivism, and address past injustices.
Alvin has established a Special Victims Division, Hate Crimes Unit, and Pathways to Public Safety Division, which all provide specialized services for survivors, victims, and those affected by criminal behavior. He has also created a dedicated Housing and Tenant Protection Unit to investigate landlords and developers who engage in fraud and harassment.
In addition, Alvin is committed to holding those in positions of power accountable, as evidenced by his successful indictment of Stephen K. Bannon and WeBuildTheWall, Inc. and the conviction of Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg. He has also created units to investigate and reinvestigate closed cases and police accountability.
Before his election as DA, Alvin served in several government positions, including as an Assistant Attorney General at the New York State Attorney General’s Office and an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. He also worked as a Visiting Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Racial Justice Project at New York Law School, where he represented the family of Eric Garner in a lawsuit against the City of New York.
Alvin is a dedicated member of his community and has served on the Board of Directors of the New York Urban League and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. He is also a Sunday School teacher at his church.
What has Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg been up to?
When Alvin Bragg became the Manhattan District Attorney, he inherited the investigations of Donald Trump from his predecessor, Cyrus Vance Jr. Vance had been investigating Trump on multiple fronts, which led to a case in the U.S. Supreme Court. The Supreme Court ruled in 2020 that the district attorney’s office could enforce a subpoena for Trump's financial records. After closely reviewing the evidence from the investigation led by Vance's deputy, Carey Dunne, Bragg, and several senior prosecutors concluded that more work needed to be done on the case. Bragg confirmed that the investigation into Trump continued, but there were no visible signs of an active investigation.

Alvin Bragg is on the side of Law and Order
Alvin Bragg's record as Manhattan District Attorney suggests that he is committed to upholding the law and promoting public safety while also addressing the underlying causes of criminal behavior and correcting past injustices. He has restructured the DA's office to focus more on prosecuting serious violent crimes, overseeing units to root out police misconduct, expanding victim services and community outreach, and creating a Pathways to Public Safety Division to reduce recidivism. Additionally, he has demonstrated a willingness to hold powerful individuals and entities accountable for their actions, such as in the cases of Stephen K. Bannon, WeBuildTheWall, Inc., and Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg. Ultimately, Alvin Bragg's approach to law and order seems to prioritize fairness, equity, and justice for all.
It is time to go on the offensive. When we take out the politics and drown out the excessive noise and lies it becomes easy to see those who are on the side of Law and Order. Democrat, Republican, Independent, or any other party is not the issue. The issue is we are missing leadership and integrity in our courts. We the People can make a difference if we get out and vote. We the People can change the narrative of lies that have come out of the MAGA Fascist Republican party. And we will. Our voices will not be silenced. It is time to push back. And we can do this together.
